What artworks receive the most inquires? Two manhole cover projects in downtown Minneapolis:

  • Hail Minnesota, by Kate Burke, is a series of iron manhole cover designs commissioned by the City of Minneapolis and the Nicollet Mall Implementation Board for the Nicollet Mall Renovation in 1990,
  • Eleven artists were commissioned to design covers as the first major public art undertaking of the Minneapolis Arts Commission in 1984. These are located on 6th and 7th Streets between Nicollet and Hennepin.
