Minneapolis Animal Care and Control: Working with residents to create safe and healthy communities for people and animals.

Animal Rescue Groups

Minneapolis Animal Care & Control (MACC) is committed to finding good homes for all adoptable animals. Animal rescue groups play an important role in the placement of healthy and treatable animals. Each year, MACC places hundreds of animals with our rescue partners.

MACC works with pre-approved rescue groups that undergo a rigorous screening process to ensure safe, responsible placement of our animals. Although we are always looking for rescue groups that take all breeds, MACC will prioritize animal rescue groups that can place pit bulls (bully breeds) and cats.

Please contact the groups directly for available animals.

Buddha Bear's Story

Sometimes, dogs or cats come to the animal shelter in the worst possible shape. Dehydrated. Sick. Fearful.  Buddha Bear's story in life wasn't a good one, but through the help of volunteers at Save-a-Bull, he is now living in the lap of luxury in his permanent adoptive home.  Although this pit bull is deaf, it doesn't stop him from enjoying quality time with his humans and out in the world.

In March 2012, MACC introduced a new program where highly trained volunteers are now working with the pit bulls in our animal shelter.  These volunteers -- called the Bully Breed Brigade -- exercise and socialize the bully breed dogs at MACC.  Thank you to the dedicated volunteers who are giving their time to work with these dogs, and to the rescue groups that pull these dogs from our shelter in order to re-home them to great adoptive homes!
