Each now has its own website: August 27, 2009The project memo and plan sets for 27th Avenue SE, Glenwood Avenue, Minnehaha/20th Avenues S, 10th Avenue SE, and 19th Avenue S were submitted to MnDOT on July 17th. Public meetings were held for all 5 projects in June. All projects received general support from meeting attendees with the exception of Glenwood Avenue, where the removal of parking was a significant concern. Glenwood Avenue plan sets will be revised to reflect a desired compromise between all interested parties (City, County, neighborhood stakeholders, TLC). Implementation of these 5 projects is now anticipated for 2010, because federal monies have not yet been released. Portions of the 27th Avenue SE and Minnehaha/20th Avenues S projects are anticipated for completion this fall, within the existing City budget. Design of the remaining 12 projects has begun, with 7th Street N nearly complete. Standards for Minneapolis bicycle boulevards will be developed. A kickoff meeting has been scheduled for September. Preliminary detailed layouts for 27th Avenue SE, Glenwood Avenue, Minnehaha/20th Avenues S, 10th Avenue SE, and 19th Avenue S are circulating internally and with the County. These 5 sub-projects will probably be completed this summer. Permissions for environmental and historical review for these 5 sub-projects have already been submitted to MnDOT. Public meetings are anticipated to be held in May. Design of the remaining 12 projects should be beginning later this summer, with the balance of construction to take place in 2010. Standards for Minneapolis bicycle boulevards will be developed with the assistance of Alliant Engineering, beginning in May. January 9, 2009The preliminary detailed layouts for the 27th Avenue SE, Glenwood Avenue, and Minnehaha/20th Avenues S sub-projects are complete. Public Works staff has set up a meeting for January 14th with Hennepin County staff to come to consensus on the layouts. Afterward public meetings will be scheduled. Work has begun on the 14th/15th/16th sub-project. Preliminary designs for all of the projects are scheduled to be completed by May 31st. Additional resources are being brought in to speed up this design phase. Anticipated completion of construction for the majority of the projects is scheduled for fall of 2009. This is a change over the previous update, where it was expected that all projects would be completed this fall. The next update will contain a more detailed schedule for the entire Bicycle Operations project. October 29, 2008 The 3rd iteration of a project memo was submitted in September. MnDOT notified the City today that we are authorized to proceed with work. The City had begun in-kind work on the project in late August, with layouts nearly complete on the 27th Avenue SE, Glenwood Avenue, and Minnehaha/20th Avenues S sub-projects. The City has begun to work with Hennepin County and City Council members to approve layouts and schedule public meetings. Public meetings will be scheduled this winter for the 3 aforementioned sub-projects, as well as a majority of the remainder 14 sub-projects. Anticipated completion of the project is scheduled for Fall of 2009. |
