Senior Citizens Advisory Committee Vacancy (closes 04/02/2010)The Senior Citizen Advisory Committee to the Mayor and City Council was created by in 1976 to advise the Mayor and City Council on concerns relating to senior citizens & to recommend actions to solve such concerns, to act as a liaison for the senior citizen community, and to advise and suggest programs and activities of value to senior citizens and the City of Minneapolis. Vacancy:
There are currently three (3) vacancies; two (2) in the following wards: Ward 4 and Ward 9; and one (1) is to be representatives from a community agency that funds or provides key services to seniors. These positions are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.

Selection Process:
Applications are forwarded from the City Clerk to the Mayor and City Council President for their consideration.
Note:
Meetings are held once per month, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month
Participation in at least one standing committee is required.
Attendance: any member who has more than three unexcused absences in any calendar year will be replaced.
Members may not serve more than three consecutive terms.
There is no compensation.
The Commission meeting locations are accessible to persons who are disabled.
