St Anthony Parkway Bridge
The project includes reconstruction of the St Anthony Parkway Bridge and approach roadways which includes St. Anthony Parkway, California St. NE and possibly Main St. NE. The intent of reconstruction is to include updated amenities for non-motorized users.
The existing 533.6 foot, five-span, Warren through truss was built in 1925 and crosses over 24 tracks of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Rail yard. The structure provides one vehicular traffic lane in each direction and a sidewalk on the south side. The St. Anthony Bridge has been determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places and is part of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board "Grand Rounds-National Scenic Byway." The Grand Rounds has been recognized by the Federal Highway Administration as the premier scenic National Urban Scenic Byway.
The project is located in north Minneapolis on St Anthony Parkway from California St east across BNSF Rail yard and California St NE from St Anthony Parkway to 31st St NE.
Major construction activities are expected to begin mid to late summer 2015 and be complete by mid-summer 2017.
Bridge is currently closed to motorized vehicles. Construction detour will be similar to current posted detour routes.
