61st Street West Reconstruction

61st St W

Project Status

CIP Status Stage 3: Preconstruction

Project Details

Project Description/Overview: 61st St W is scheduled to be reconstructed from Lyndale Ave S to Nicollet Ave S in 2018. A reconstruction project typically includes a new road surface, sub-base, curbs, sidewalk, boulevard space and utilities as needed. The City right of way on 61st St W is limited to 50 feet in width. The street is in poor condition and much of the existing sidewalk is not ADA compliant. The initial project concepts show new and expanded sidewalk space with curb bumpouts to improve pedestrian crossings, and new boulevard space where feasible. Due to limited right of way space, these new amenities are achievable only through a reduction in street width. The preliminary concepts at the link below show different options for how this space could be reutilized.

Project Limits: Lyndale Ave S to Nicollet Ave S

Construction Start Date: 2018

Duration of Construction: 1 construction season

Traffic Impact: Lane closures and /or detours expected during construction
