33rd & 35th Streets Reconstruction
33rd St E, from Hiawatha Ave to Minnehaha Ave;
and 35th St E, from East of Hiawatha Ave to Dight Ave
The project will reconstruct a short segment of 33rd St E and of 35th St E near the railroad corridor east of Hiawatha Ave. Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2019. A reconstruction project typically includes a new road surface, sub-base, curbs, sidewalk, boulevard space and utilities as needed. The City right of way on both streets is 60 feet in width. The street is in poor condition and sidewalks are narrow with some obstructions within the pedestrian access route.

33rd St E
The preliminary layout options demonstrate potential design changes that are being explored with the reconstruction project. Staff are currently soliciting feedback on these layout options; this feedback will be considered when developing a final recommended layout this fall. The final recommended layout might take from aspects of either layout option.
35th St E
The scope of work along 35th St E is limited to the rail crossings and areas immediately adjacent. The goal with this layout is to provide improved pedestrian facilities and street condition at the rail crossing.
