2013 Urban Scholars Online Application and Instructions

The application submission period is now closed for the Urban Scholars Internship and Leadership Development Program. If you are selected for an interview, you will be asked to submit the following additional documents as soon as possible:

For Undergraduates:

Please be prepared to provide an official sealed transcript, 3 references and a personal essay consisting of 1-2 pages, double spaced, answering the following questions:

For Graduates:

Please be prepared to provide an official sealed transcript, copy of your resume with 3 references, a cover letter/statement of interest, a writing sample (10 pages or less).

The City of Minneapolis announces new dates for 2013 Urban Scholars

After a successful 2012 internship program, Urban Scholars is ready to engage students in another exciting summer at City Hall. Urban Scholars is a highly competitive program that will be accepting applications for 16 positions starting Feb. 15, 2013. Mark your calendars with the following dates to be considered for this distinquished opportunity:

Students who are enrolled and in good standing at a two or four year college or university and a permanent resident of Minneapolis will be eligible to apply. The 12 week program is a full-time paid internship experience. Urban Scholars will be exposed to the internal operations of the City of Minneapolis by receiving: direct access to the Mayor, City Council, and City Hall Department Leaders, a full-time internship in a City of Minneapolis department and a team-based community project that will be presented to government and community stakeholders. 

The 2013 undergraduate cohort will receive a taxable stipend of $5,200 and letters of recommendations as requested. The 2013 graduate cohort will receive a taxable stipend of $7,559 and letters of recommendations as requested.
