Standing Committees
Standing committees meet during the two weeks preceding the Council's biweekly meeting. This period is called a Council cycle. The exceptions are Claims, which meets quarterly, and Audit, Elections, Rules and Taxes, which meet at the call of the Chair.
Departments report to the Council through an assigned standing committee. Committee recommendations are then forwarded to the full Council for consideration.
Council standing committees are staffed by the Council Committee Coordinators:
- Claims
- Committee of the Whole (includes Intergovernmental Relations Subcommittee)
- Community Development
- Elections
- Public Safety, Civil Rights and Health
- Regulatory, Energy and Environment
- Rules
- Taxes
- Transportation and Public Works
- Ways and Means/Budget
- Zoning and Planning
