Purpose

The Executive Committee, established by City Charter, Chapter 3, Section 4, considers appointments of the Police Chief, Fire Chief, City Engineer, Commissioner of Health, City Attorney, City Assessor, City Coordinator, Civil Service Commissioner and other officers in a department or agency appointed by the Mayor or City Council or by any public board the majority of whose members are members of the City Council.

The Executive Committee negotiates labor contracts and considers implementation of policies and procedures initiated by Council Members or the Mayor. Recommendations for management policies and administrative procedures are referred to appropriate Council committees for approval. The Executive Committee coordinates interagency issues and arranges City functions.
