Mortgage & Home Improvement Programs
CPED offers special financing to help low- and moderate-income households purchase a home in the city, or if they own a home to complete the repair of housing code maintenance violations. CPED also works with community partners to prevent mortgage foreclosures.

The Don’t Borrow Trouble campaign is a public education initiative aimed at stopping predatory lending practices in the Metro Area.

Seeking home ownership? The City of Minneapolis works with a variety of for-profit and non-profit developers to provide a number of affordable and mixed-income ownership opportunities. Homes are available for purchase for all household income levels.

The CityLiving program provides mortgage financing along with down payment and closing cost assistance to help low- and moderate-income buyers safely purchase homes.

The Home Ownership Works Program (HOW) uses federal funds to provide homeownership opportunities for first-time homebuyers.

The Minneapolis Advantage Program--Mortgage Assistance provides a forgivable loan to help assist homebuyers purchasing in neighborhoods challenged by foreclosure.
Home Improvement Programs

The Rehab Support Program provides a matching loan up to $20,000 for homeowners or home buyers with incomes up to $96,600. For more information eligibility requirements and improvements.

Code Abatement Loans assist low-income homeowners who have been required to make repairs on their properties, by the City’s Department of Inspections, in order to resolve code violations.

Home Repair Loans are available to assist all Minneapolis low- and moderate-income homeowners to complete City-ordered repairs.

The Community Energy Services program is a full-service, one-stop residential energy efficiency program designed to help Minneapolis homeowners save energy, money and prepare their homes for winter.
