Single Family Housing Development Tools
The Single Family Housing section of CPED strengthens neighborhoods and facilitates the elimination of blighting influences in Minneapolis through the acquisition and redevelopment of substandard, vacant, boarded, obsolete or non-conforming structures of less than 10 units.
- The Century Homes Program is a partnership between the City of Minneapolis and the Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation that rehabilitates and develops high quality market-rate homes sold exclusively for owner occupancy.
- The Vacant Housing Recycling Program brings CPED's expertise together with neighborhood-based partners in efforts to remove blight, and provides matching funds for the acquisition and disposition of residential properties.
- The Home Ownership Program is a partnership between the City of Minneapolis and the Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation that provides gap financing for affordable home ownership opportunities in areas of the city where housing is not typically affordable.
- The Housing Replacement Tax Increment District is a tool that reimburses some of the costs incurred by the City of Minneapolis in acquiring blighted properties and preparing them for redevelopment.
- The Senior Housing Regeneration ProgramTM is a partnership between the City of Minneapolis and the Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation under the Century Homes Program. The program assists seniors in their transition to new housing options that better meet their lifestyle such as condos, townhomes, or assisted living.
- The Homeownership Works program (HOW) is a federally funded program that allows the City of Minneapolis to contract with approved non-profit developers who buys and renovates/construct single family housing units and sell to households with incomes at, or below 80% of the area median income.
- Created by the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers (MCCD), OwnaHomeMN.org is a one-stop shop to connect potential homebuyers with quality, affordable homes and the resources needed to achieve and sustain successful homeownership.
- The Northside Home Fund is a partnership with neighborhood organizations and housing partners that is focused on redeveloping specific housing clusters in order to stabilize and strengthen homeownership in North Minneapolis.
