Minneapolis Advantage*Note: Applications for the Minneapolis Advantage program will be accepted, beginning April 2. It’s not too early to start your search for a home now; a signed purchase agreement is one of the requirements needed in order to begin securing the funds. What is the Minneapolis Advantage Program?Like many cities across this nation, Minneapolis is experiencing foreclosures and feeling the effects of vacant homes in our neighborhoods. The City of Minneapolis has created the Minneapolis Advantage Program to help potential buyers purchase a home in areas challenged by foreclosure and bring people back on the blocks. This program offers 200 loans at $10,000 each that can be used to pay for closing costs, down payment, or even small repairs to the home. Funding is limited and income eligibility requirements apply. Loans will be given on a first come, first serve basis and are for purchasing homes in eligible neighborhoods (map). For more information, see the Frequently Asked Questions and the program guidelines. Funding for the Minneapolis Advantage program is provided by the Federal Home Loan Bank and the City of Minneapolis.
