Master Plan for the Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood

Approved December 29, 2003

Plan Update Complete
The Marcy Holmes Master Plan has been replaced by an updated plan. More information and view the new plan.

In Summer 2002, The Marcy-Holmes neighborhood hired Dahlgren, Shardlow and Uban Inc., a private planning consulting firm, to facilitate planning discussions and draft a master plan for the area. The planning process began in September 2002 with general community meetings that allowed the participants to declare what they liked or disliked about the neighborhood, what they wanted to preserve, what they wanted to achieve, and what they wanted to avoid. The cumulative results of this input formed the objectives for the plan. The Marcy-Holmes plan document supports the policies of The Minneapolis Plan, the city's comprehensive plan and provides detailed policy guidance for planning and development issues at the neighborhood level.

Approval Process Timeline
A draft plan was submitted to the city for 45-day review and comment beginning July 14, 2003 through August 27, 2003. Comments were collected by the consultant and incorporated into the draft plan document. The plan was discussed by the City Planning Commission Committee of the Whole on November 13, 2003. A public hearing was held at the City Planning Commission on November 17, 2003 and the Commission voted to approve the plan. The plan was forwarded to the Zoning & Planning Committee of the City Council for review and approval on December 4, 2003 with full City Council approval occurring on December 29, 2003.
