Weed and Seed ProgramAnother new program for MDHFS is the City of Minneapolis Weed and Seed Program. Weed and Seed is a federal program that has been in existence since 1992. The mission of the Weed and Seed program is to assist cities and communities to address issues of neighborhood decay in areas of the country hard hit by crime, drug activity and violence. In 1996, Minnesota established its own Weed and Seed Initiative. There are three sites in Minneapolis: Phillips, North and Central.
