Pre-Register to Vote

You can pre-register to vote by mail or in person.

Pre-registration ends 20 days before each regularly scheduled Primary or General Election. Voter Registration Applications must be received by the Elections Office or by one of our agencies by 5:00 p.m. of the date of the deadline. In the case of a Special Election, check the Special Election Calendar for the pre-registration deadline.

Voter Registration Applications must contain original signatures and cannot be faxed.

If you are registering by mail for the first time in Minnesota, you may need to bring identification to the polling place on Election Day.

Newly registered voters will receive a postcard from the election office telling them where they vote on Election Day. Voters can use the Voter Registration Lookup to confirm they are registered under their current name and address.
