“Don't Wait: Check the Date!"
NFPA has officially announced “Don't Wait: Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years” as the theme for Fire Prevention Week, October 9-15, 2016. The focus on smoke alarm replacement comes as the result of a recent survey conducted by NFPA, which showed that many people don't know how old their smoke alarms are or how often they need to be replaced.
MFD adds NARCAN to treat overdose patients
The Fire Department has added Narcan to its complement of medical services provided in Minneapolis. The drug can reverse an overdose from heroin and other opioid-based drugs and medications. The Fire Department administers a vaporized version of the treatment nasally. The cost of the drug treatments and a portion of the training costs are being reimbursed by the Minnesota Metropolitan Emergency Services Board.

Station F opened July 1, 1879 with Hose 4 Located 116-118 Plymouth Avenue North. It originally opened October 1875 with volunteers. On January 12, 1891 the department was reorganized and Station F became Station 4. This station was then closed and sold in 1884 and relocated to 252 12th Avenue North with Engine 4 and Ladder 4. This location then closed in 1940 when new Station 4 was opened on February 13, 1940 at its present location at 1101 North 6th Street
