Health and Wellness Classes

The list of health and wellness classes below are worth 25 points each in the My Health Rewards program. To enroll in a class, log in to COMET – Learning and Development, and enter a keyword under “Search for Learning". 

Please Note:  In order to receive points for the class, you need to self-report your attendance.  To to the Rewards page of your My Health Rewards website. Scroll down to the "Complete Healthy Activities" section and click on "Attend a City of Minneapolis sponsored health and wellness class" then click Earn. You can get points for up to two classes in a year.

Bike Basics for City Employees: Tips, Tricks and Traffic Skills
Learn basic skills to prepare you to get on your bike and be comfortable.  This introductory classroom course covers the basic rules of the road and best practices to being safe and comfortable on the road and trail, potential barriers to riding,  and a discussion of strategies to overcome these barriers.

Managing stress is important to overall health and wellness. This class will explore facts about stress, good and bad stress, as well as giving you tools to manage stress.

Natural Energy Boosters
This class will provide you with useful information about what to eat for maximum energy. We we also discuss how food can help you combat stress and anxiety. Learn about how things like sugar, fat and caffeine can actually sap your energy an what types of foods you can eat instead.

Estate Planning
This seminar does not offer legal advice but it does explain the documentation needed for estate planning. You’ll learn the terms for will planning, guardianships and trusts, as well as review the pros and cons of various options. This is a great introduction if you are considering Estate Planning.

Fitting Fitness into Your Day
Many of us are so busy with many competing priorities that we just don't have time to get the physical activity we need to stay healthy. With a little effort, even the busiest person can weave 30 minutes of physical activity into his or her day. This class will help you discover the benefits of regular exercise, identify ways to fit more movement into everyday routines and develop a personal action plan.

In this introductory meditation workshop, we will use guided imagery and breathing to learn how relaxation techniques make you even more productive during the day and help you sleep better at night.

Ergonomics
This training will provide an overview of the ergonomic factors that affect daily work of employees at the City. Employees can learn about the risk factors that potentially contribute to accidents/injury or work-related musculoskeletal disorders and strategies for injury prevention. Increase awareness of work place ergonomics, understand the breadth and scope of office/ occupational ergonomics, obtain basic knowledge in the application of ergonomic principles to design of your workplaces and the prevention of work related injuries and learn how to get help adjusting your work station.
