Rental License Application

A completed rental license application must be submitted, along with appropriate fees prior to the issuance of a rental license.

These are the forms and instructions for licensing your rental property in Minneapolis. All rental properties in Minneapolis must be licensed.

General Rules of Rental Licenses

The rental license year is from September 1 to August 31st.
Licenses must be renewed each year and are not transferrable.
Licenses purchased before April 1 expire on August 31st of that same year.
The charge for a license purchased after April 1, is reduced by 50% and expires on August 31st of that same year.
Statements for renewal fees are sent out in late July and due by September 1.
The ‘Paid On” date in Property Information is the date a customer paid for the license. Dates falling in mid-August or September are renewal purchases for the following year.
