Nature of Work

The City of Minneapolis is seeking a Development Services Director to lead and manage zoning, land use, preservation, code inspections, and customer service center staff with the responsibility for integrating urban design principles into the City of Minneapolis’ efforts on housing and economic development; protect the safety and welfare of the public in the development of the City’s built environment.
Nature of Work
The Development Services division guides land use development, construction site plan review, zoning enforcement, historic preservation, and the City’s permit customer service center. The division delivers services mandated under federal, state and local laws, and city ordinances to ensure that Minneapolis remains the heart of the upper Midwest region as a premier destination for dynamic urban living and working.

Intergovernmental Relations
The City of Minneapolis is seeking a Government Relations Representative to represent the City of Minneapolis at the state legislature.
Nature of Work:
The Government Relations Representative will assist city council and the mayor in the development, management and implementation of the city’s legislative and federal programs. Represent the city at regional and local governments and state agencies.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
(Including, but not limited to the following)
Assists in representation of the City of Minneapolis before the State Legislature.
Assists in the development of the legislative program and the implementation of that program.
Represents the City on boards and committees charged with designing state and local legislative policy.
Research issues which come before the IGR Sub-Committee and recommend alternatives.
Monitor actions and issues of other governments and regional bodies

The Director of Regulatory Services will provide executive leadership to and management of a department with a staff of 140 and an annual operating budget of approximately $16 million. The department has five distinct business lines: housing inspections, fire inspections, problem properties, traffic control and animal care and control. It is the responsibility of the Director to ensure that Regulatory Services effectively balances the needs of customers with the assurance that public safety and neighborhood livability are maintained through regulatory enforcement.
