License Applications
New Licenses
There are several opportunities for retail alcohol licenses in Minneapolis. If you are interested in manufacturing or distributing alcohol, see the State of Minnesota’s website.
Current Licenses
Individuals seeking to make a change in their operation must first submit an application for approval. Failure to report changes may lead to license revocation. Examples include:
- adding or replacing a partner or manager
- transferring or selling shares
- upgrading entertainment
- expanding premises, temporarily or permanently.
Other relevant licenses include Tobacco or Sidewalk Cafés, for example.
Temporary Licenses
Nonprofit organizations may apply for a temporary on-sale alcohol license for up to four days for fundraising events.
Annual License Renewal
Your application to renew your on-sale liquor, on-sale wine, off-sale liquor license, on-sale 3.2 beer or off-sale 3.2 beer license is due 30 days before the expiration date. Applications submitted after this deadline will receive a 20% late penalty in addition to the annual renewal fee.
