July 22, 2016 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Today, the Minneapolis City Council unanimously confirmed Robin Hutcheson to lead the City’s Department of Public Works.

“Robin Hutcheson has the right combination of experience and vision, and I am glad that the City Council agrees that she is the right person to continue and accelerate the progress we’ve made over the last decade,” said Mayor Hodges. “In Robin Hutcheson, we have a dynamic leader who will collaborate with Council Members, City staff and our partners at other agencies to keep Minneapolis moving forward toward a sustainable 21st Century future.”

“With glowing enthusiasm, Robin Hutcheson steps up to the challenge of running Minneapolis Public Works, an organization that is composed of multiple departments, that makes up the City’s largest section of employment and budget, and that both spends and generates revenue,” said Transportation and Public Works Committee Chair Council Member Reich. “Her skills and dynamic personality will confidently join the incredible division leaders and personnel of this well-functioning department.”

“I’m very pleased to have the confidence and support of the City Council,” said Robin Hutcheson. “I was drawn to Minneapolis by its connection to nature, great neighborhoods, and commitment to people, and I see a great opportunity for Public Works to play an essential role in the City moving forward. I am very excited to begin work, and look forward to being a member of the great Minneapolis team.”

Today’s consideration by the full council was the final step in the confirmation process. Hutcheson will serve a two-year term, at which point she is subject to re-nomination.
