CALL TO ORDER

APPROVAL OF ACTIONS FROM THE July 30, 2019 MEETING

The Heritage Preservation Commission approved the actions from the July 30, 2019 meeting.

ACTION ITEM

1.      Ivy-Zenith-32nd Conservation District, Ward 13

Staff report by John Smoley, PLAN9131

The Heritage Preservation Commission adopted staff findings for the application by Meg Forney for the properties centered upon the intersection of Zenith Ave S and 32nd St W for initiation of a conservation district plan and preparation of design guidelines:

A.     Initiation of a Conservation District.

Motion: Continued the Initiation of a Conservation District two cycles to the September 17, 2019, meeting of the Heritage Preservation Commission.

2.      Joyce Memorial Methodist Church, 1219 W 31st St, Ward 10

The Heritage Preservation Commission adopted staff findings for the application by Brian Farrell for the property located at 1219 W 31st St:

A.     Nomination for Landmark Designation

Motion: Approved the nomination of 1219 W 31st St as an historic landmark; established interim protection; and directed the Planning Director to prepare or cause to be prepared a designation study.   

PUBLIC HEARING

3.      Lakeland Building, 17 N 3rd St, 21 N 3rd St, and 25 N 3rd St, Ward 3

The Heritage Preservation Commission adopted staff findings for the applications by John Rimarcik for the properties located at 17, 21, and 25 North 3rd St in the Minneapolis Warehouse Historic District:

A.     Certificate of Appropriateness.

Motion: Continued the Certificate of Appropriateness to allow the rehabilitation of the existing building located at 21 North 3rd St one cycle to the August 27, 2019, meeting of the Heritage Preservation Commission.

4.      Internet Exchange Building Modifications and Signage, 419 Washington Ave N, Ward 3

The Heritage Preservation Commission adopted staff findings for the applications by North Loop Partners, LLC for the property located at 419 Washington Ave N in the Minneapolis Warehouse Historic District:

A.     Certificate of Appropriateness.

Motion: Continued the Certificate of Appropriateness to allow modifications to the existing building and a master sign plan one cycle to the August 27, 2019, meeting of the Heritage Preservation Commission.

B.     Historic Variance to allow a master sign plan.

Motion: Continued the historic variance to allow a master sign plan one cycle to the August 27, 2019, meeting of the Heritage Preservation Commission.

5.      Minnesota Hillel Building Renovation, 1521 University Ave SE, Ward 2

The Heritage Preservation Commission adopted staff findings for the applications by Benjie Kaplan for the property located at 1521 University Ave SE in the University of Minnesota Greek Letter Chapter House Historic District:

A.     Certificate of Appropriateness.

Motion: Continued the Certificate of Appropriateness one cycle to the August 27, 2019, meeting of the Heritage Preservation Commission.
