Police Department

1.    Grant award from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety for a DWI Enforcement Officer (16-01461)

Authorizing a grant contract with the Minnesota Department of Public safety – Office of Justice Programs for a DWI Officer to enhance DWI traffic enforcement in an amount not to exceed $107,124, for one year beginning Oct. 1, 2016 through Sept. 30, 2017 (Refer to WM).

Action Taken:  Approved and referred to WM.

2.    Contract amendment with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis of DNA case evidence (16-01427)

Authorizing an increase to Contract C-38615 with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) of $819,000, for a not-to-exceed total of $1,533,000, and extension through Dec. 31, 2018, using the MN BCA contract amendment form for the analysis of MPD DNA case evidence (Refer to WM).

Action Taken:  Approved and referred to WM.

3.    Travel expense donation acceptance from Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) (16-01462)

Passage of Resolution accepting donation from Police Executive Research Forum for travel related expenses estimated at $700 for Deputy Chief Travis Glampe to attend a one-day Law Enforcement Hiring Practices Forum in Washington, DC to discuss hiring policies and practices, on Sept. 13, 2016 (Refer to WM).

Action Taken:  Approved and referred to WM.

4.    Travel expense donation acceptance from National Network for Safe Communities at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (16-01463)

Passage of Resolution accepting donation for travel related expenses estimated at $1000 for Deputy Chief Bruce Folkens to participate in the National Network for Safe Communities Detroit-Minneapolis Peer Exchange in New York, NY from Sept. 28-30, 2016 (Refer to WM).

Action Taken:  Approved and referred to WM.

5.    Police Department response times directive (16-00313)

Receiving the MPD Staffing & Response Times for Priority 1, 2, and 3 Calls Report: 3rd Quarter 2016 Report.

Action Taken:  Received and filed.

City Attorney

6.    Domestic violence yearly update report (16-01464)

Receiving a domestic violence update report on work of the City Attorney’s Office, Police Department, and their advocacy partners, Asian Women United of Minnesota (AWUM), Casa de Esperanza (CASA), and Domestic Abuse Project (DAP) focusing: Federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grant investigating GOAs; and Domestic Violence Hot Spots Pilot Project in North and South Minneapolis.

Action Taken:  Received and filed.
