APPROVAL OF ACTIONS FROM THE JUNE 8, 2017, MEETING

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

The commission may take action on items as part of a consent agenda at the beginning of the meeting. In these instances, the commission president will open the public hearing at the beginning of the meeting and will ask whether anyone would like to provide testimony or express concerns about items recommended for the consent agenda. If you plan to speak to an issue on the agenda, it is recommended that you arrive at the meeting at 4:30 or contact the assigned city staff person in advance. Staff report by Mei-Ling Smith, PLAN 4112

The Department of Community Planning and Economic Development recommends that the Zoning Board of Adjustment adopt staff findings for the applications by Kurt Baum, on behalf of Eric and Marsha Larson.

A.      Variance to reduce the front yard setback.

Recommended motion: Approve the variance to reduce the front yard setback requirement from 42 feet to 8.5 feet to allow an addition to the existing attached garage and to 22 feet to allow a new foyer, subject to the following conditions:

1.       Approval of the final site, elevation, and floor plans by the Department of Community Planning and Economic Development.

2.       All site improvements shall be completed by June 22, 2019, unless extended by the Zoning Administrator, or the permit may be revoked for non-compliance.

3.       The primary exterior materials used for the addition shall match the exterior materials of the home.

The Department of Community Planning and Economic Development recommends that the Zoning Board of Adjustment adopt staff findings for the applications by Lars Peterssen.

A.      Variance to allow development on or within 40 feet of a steep slope.

Recommended motion: Approve the application to develop within 40 feet of a steep slope subject to the following conditions:

1.       Approval of the final site, elevation and floor plans by the Department of Community Planning and Economic Development.

2.       All site improvements shall be completed by June 22, 2019, unless extended by the Zoning Administrator, or the permit may be revoked for non-compliance.

3.       4415 Fremont Ave S, Ward 13

The Department of Community Planning and Economic Development recommends that the Zoning Board of Adjustment adopt staff findings for the applications by Ron Howard.

A.      Variance to reduce the north interior side yard setback.

Recommended motion: Deny the variance to reduce the north interior side yard setback requirement from 8 feet to 3.5 feet.

B.      Variance to increase the maximum allowed height of an accessory structure.

Recommended motion: Deny the variance to increase the maximum height of a detached accessory parking structure from 12 feet to 12 feet, 8 inches.
