Collaborative Safety Strategies Funding

How would you make your community safer? Minneapolis is investing $350,000 in funding for innovative ideas from the community that interrupt patterns of violence or criminal behavior in four key areas:

  • Broadway community, from I-94 to Penn Ave. $50,000
  • Penn Ave. community, from 36th Ave. to Lowry Ave. $50,000
  • Little Earth community, from 26th St. to Franklin around Bloomington $50,000
  • Lake Street community, from 35W to Hiawatha Ave. $200,000

Application Form

The deadline to submit an application for Penn Ave. has been extended to May 30, 2018.

Proposal Review Teams

Residents were invited to sign up to be a part of the proposal review team in their area if they:

  • Live, work or own a business in one of the four key areas.
  • Do not have any financial conflicts of interest with any of the applicants for funding for their area.

Teams met the week of May 22 and submitting funding recommendations to City Council. Final recommendations are set to go before City Council on June 18.


Ideation Sessions (Required)

Unlike the information sessions, attendance at an ideation session is required from at least one partner listed on each funding application. The ideation sessions have concluded. If you were unable to attend, you must find a partner who was in attendance in order to apply for funding.

Program Timeline 2018

Residents, business owners and organizations in the four key areas will be invited to propose ideas to make their community safer.

The award approval and notification dates have shifted to reflect the extension to the application deadline.
