King Field’s population decreased 7.4 percent from 1980 to 2000. This contrasted with Minneapolis’, which increased 3.1 percent.
King Field’s age demographics changed significantly between 1980 and 2000. Populations in the three youngest age groups and two oldest decreased. Meanwhile, the 25- to 44- and 45- to 64-year-old age groups increased 12 percent and 22 percent respectively.
Like many neighborhoods and the City of Minneapolis, King Field became more ethnically diverse between 1980 and 2000. In 1980, King Field was 90 percent white; this dropped to 76 percent in 2000. All other ethnic group populations increased. The Hispanic group had the greatest increase during this period, from less than 1 percent of the population in 1980 to 8 percent in 2000. |
