Check out unique library materials displayed in conjunction with Gay Pride Month. Hennepin County Library has played a significant role in preserving the history of GLBTQ people in the Twin Cities.

Author, Author: Photography Exhibit

June 26 – Aug. 18
Minneapolis Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall

This exhibit is a stunning display of more than 50 intimate and original portraits of writers, screenwriters and playwrights by Michael Childers, who is one of the entertainment industry's most renowned and highly respected portrait and art photographers.

Want to sharpen your skills looking and writing for grant foundation monies? The session covers where you can find funding and information on how to write a proposal for the grant. This presentation will show you how to search for potential funders, print reference materials, online databases, websites and how to use them to maximize your possibilities. Talk of the Stacks With Esmeralda Santiago

Santiago is author of the critically acclaimed books "When I Was Puerto Rican," "Almost a Woman," "The Turkish Lover," "América’s Dream" and others. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Boston Globe and House & Garden, and on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and “Morning Edition.” She will discuss her writing and her newest novel, "Conquistadora," set in 1800s about two coming-of-age stories. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Seating is first-come, first-served. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
