Bike Minneapolis events winding down

For the past few months, the Minneapolis Bicycling and Pedestrian Program has been hosting free events aimed at helping folks of all ages find new ways to enjoy Minneapolis’ many bicycling and walking opportunities. If you think you’d enjoy participating, be sure to take advantage of these last two activities of the season. No registration is necessary: just show up!

Neighborhood Bicycle Tours

Saturday, Aug. 18:  10 a.m.
Near North (meet at Venture North Bike Walk & Coffee, 1830 Glenwood Ave. N)

Learn how to ride confidently, safely and enjoy bicycling as a lifetime activity. This bicycling class is for people 55+ community members will cover getting started, types of cycles, basic maintenance and upkeep, rules of the road and trip planning.

Kidical Mass

Saturday, Aug. 18:  9 a.m.
Mississippi River Ride (meet at Farview Park)

To celebrate the growing presence of kids and families on bikes, rides to family-friendly destinations are offered at different parks around the city. Rides are typically three miles at a 5 - 6 mph pace on quiet residential streets. The ride is paced to travel as fast as its slowest riders. Helmets are required. This ride will include Wirth Parkway, Bassett’s Creek Parkway and the Sculpture Garden.
