City readies for upcoming charitable giving campaign

The volunteers who are organizing the City’s annual Charitable Giving Campaign are finalizing plans for this year’s campaign, which begins Nov. 30.

These nine umbrella organizations — which together represent hundreds of giving options — have been selected to participate in this year’s campaign:

·         Community Health Charities Minnesota

·         Community Shares of Minnesota

·         Greater Twin Cities United Way

·         Hennepin History Museum

·         Minnesota Environmental Fund

·         Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless

·         United Arts Fund

·         United Negro College Fund

·         Peace Maker Foundation.

These organizations are considered umbrella organizations because they fund hundreds of charitable causes. More information about these charities as well as additional giving options will be available at the Charitable Giving Campaign kick-off event slated for 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 in the City Hall Rotunda.

Campaign co-chairs Bridgette Bornstein, Communications, and Charles Brynteson, Fire, are being assisted by more than 28 department coordinators who are on hand in each department to help their coworkers through the process involved in making either a one-time donation or signing up for a payroll deduction.
