Free training helps you prepare for 5K

City employees can join a running program for free to prepare for the Runnin’ with the Law 5K taking place Wednesday, May 20, at Lake Calhoun. The running program includes group runs led by a Life Time Fitness professional trainer, a 5K training plan and a seminar on running gear and shoes.

Group runs take place Thursdays at 6 p.m. through May 14. You are encouraged to attend all of the group runs, but attendance isn’t required at every one and you can drop in at any point throughout the program.

The Minneapolis Police Department partnered with Life Time Fitness to offer the training. For more information or to register, contact Sgt. Eric Hagel at Eric.Hagel@minneapolismn.gov or 673-7309.

Runnin’ with the Law 5K

Runnin’ with the Law promotes an active, healthy culture. The evening will include demonstrations by the Minneapolis Police Department, a kids fun run and a post-race celebration with prizes, a raffle and a food truck.

Registration costs $30 for the 5K and $5 for the kids fun run. Proceeds benefit fitness training for the Minneapolis Police Department. Register now.
