Bus lines moving off of Nicollet Mall for construction Monday, July 6
Work to redesign Nicollet Mall is now underway, and that means bus routes on the mall need to move. Starting Monday, July 6, all Metro Transit buses currently using Nicollet Mall will detour to Third Avenue near City Hall and also onto Marquette Avenue and Second Avenue near the Minneapolis Convention Center.
This work changes the routes for the following bus lines: 10, 11, 17, 18, 25, 59 and 568. Please see the detour route map for the entire rerouting. If you use these bus routes, check www.metrotransit.org for any bus schedule changes.
Buses will have stops on northbound and southbound Third Avenue. This includes stops by the Public Service Center between Third Street and Fourth Street, and by the Government Center Plaza between Fifth Street and Sixth Street. South of Eighth Street, buses will move over to Marquette Avenue and Second Avenue. The free rides that connect the Minneapolis Convention Center with the METRO Blue and Green lines will continue through construction on detoured routes.
This bus detour will create additional motorist congestion on Third Avenue and nearby streets, particularly during rush hours. This additional congestion may affect access to and exit from some parking ramps, including the Hennepin County Government Center ramp and the Federal Building ramp. If you use these ramps, please allow extra time to get to and from your parking area, particularly during the first several days of this change.
This detour will be in place for the duration of Nicollet Mall construction through 2017.
