Sign up for mindfulness training pilot program to lower stress
The City will offer free mindfulness training to a limited number of employees through a pilot program this fall. The training offers tools to help manage stress and achieve a higher state of well-being. Participants will learn how to stabilize their minds and increase resilience through mindfulness practices including meditation and yoga.
Sessions run noon-1 p.m. on Tuesdays for eight weeks Sept. 22-Nov. 17 in the City of Lakes Building. Instructors from the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing will lead the classes. Participants will receive an illustrated manual, a CD with four meditation exercises and a meditation card. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and expect light exercise and time on the floor.
Through the pilot, the City’s Wellness Committee intends to learn whether mindfulness training is a good match for City employees. Space is limited, and not all employees who sign up will get to participate. Participants must:
- Attend every session (must be free noon-1 p.m., Tuesdays, Sept. 22-Nov. 17).
- Provide written feedback on the training when it is complete.
- Attend focus groups about the training when it is complete.
Sign up for the pilot program here.
