The discount at Augsburg applies to new students; the discount at St. Mary’s applies to current and newly enrolled students. Both schools also waive application fees for City employees.

The City Council recently approved these educational partnerships with Augsburg College and St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. They also authorized City staff to enter into similar partnerships with other local universities, colleges and technical schools in the Twin Cities.

A more promising future

These new educational partnerships are part of the City’s response to findings from the 2014 My Minneapolis employee engagement survey. The survey found that City employees sought a more promising future in their careers here. Providing discounted educational opportunities will help create a more promising future for City employees and help establish closer relationships with local educational institutions and students. Those closer relationships will help the City create pathways for the workforce of the future.
