Read the updated Civil Service Rules
The City’s Civil Service Rules have been updated. The Civil Service Rules are a critical component in ensuring fair and consistent workplace practices. The City of Minneapolis strives to create a respectful and equitable workplace that values and supports employees.
The updates to the Civil Service Rules:
- Align with the changes in the Minneapolis Charter.
- Reflect changes in local, state and federal employment laws.
- Reflect current human resources practices.

The Minneapolis Civil Service Commission, established by the City of Minneapolis Charter, makes and amends the Civil Service Rules. The Human Resources Department carries out the provisions of the rules.
