City employees save even more with Metropass in 2016
City employees get even bigger discounts on their Metropasses this year. The City Council increased the City’s contribution toward your Metropass in the 2016 budget.
A Metropass gives you unlimited Metro Transit bus and train rides. Once enrolled, the employee share of the cost of the Metropass is automatically deducted from your pre-tax pay each month. You’ll receive a MetroPass ID card that you simply place in front of a scanner on the bus or at the light rail transit stop for your ride.
Previously, a Metropass cost $50 per month for Minneapolis Professional Employees Association (MPEA) members and $60 per month for all other employees. Now MPEA members will pay $40 per month for the pass and all other employees will pay $50 per month.

If you are currently enrolled in the Metropass program, you’ll see that the deduction for your Metropass will decrease with the Jan. 22 paycheck. Look for the deduction code MPSS on your paycheck.
To sign up for a Metropass, complete the enrollment form and return it by email or interoffice mail (Benefits Office, Public Service Center Room 100). The form must be received by the first Friday of the month for your Metropass to start the first day of the following month. For example, for your Metropass to start March 1, the enrollment form will need to be returned by Feb. 5.
