Deputy Chief Financial Officer Sandy Christensen nominated the team for its work on COMET and upgrading 12 complex modules within its finance system that cover vastly different areas of operation and business processes.
“This was the core team that worked together under LaLonnie's direction to ensure that the upgrade of the City's enterprise financial system, which is part of the new COMET system, went as smoothly and successfully as it did. LaLonnie and her team coordinated and supported the complex and significant work:
- They worked with the City's subject matter experts and the contractors helping with the upgrade to identify and document the business processes we currently have.
- They created change-impact documents for each of the 12 modules that make up the system. These provided clear and comprehensive documentation of all of the changes and improvements that would result from the upgrade and the impact these would have on system users.
- They organized and led the work teams for each area/module and ensured the teams identified and vetted business requirements, completed development work for customizations and problem areas, and went through the various stages of discovery, development, testing and production for all areas and work.
“The Finance side of COMET was timely and within budget because of this team’s work. They were essential to the success of the upgrade to this significant enterprise system. All of this was done while they were also working to manage and maintain the City’s old financial system including the coordination and management of enhancements and changes to it to keep it operational during this time.
“LaLonnie, with her team, provided the organization and structure around the Finance upgrade. Together, they ensured everyone worked together to identify and address issues, develop and document specifications and configurations, and test and ensure things worked. They worked to educate and inform Finance system users and managers. This ensured all the right people were involved and participating; that changes and improvements were identified, documented and tested; and that the upgrade effort was adequately staffed and managed to success.
“This was the core team that worked together under LaLonnie's direction to ensure that the upgrade of the finance system went as smoothly and successfully as it did.”
