Minneapolis Police Band trumpets 2016 concerts

Make plans to hear the award-winning Minneapolis Police Band perform a variety of free music from show tunes to marches, big-band hits to classical fare. The band, an inductee into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, recently announced its 2016 concert calendar.

The Minneapolis Police Band consists of a concert band, a marching band and a swing band. Members include active and retired police officers as well as civilians.

You can join the band

The Minneapolis Police Band always welcomes new members. The band particularly needs clarinet players and a lead trumpet player. Auditions are not required. You must be at least 18 years old, have some musical ability and be able to pass a background check to join the band. If you enjoy making music with others and can play an instrument, call 612-673-5717 to learn more.

The band practices 7:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays at the 5th Precinct, 3101 Nicollet Ave.
