Bring in historic items connected with City Hall and Courthouse building June 23
As part of the 125th anniversary of the Minneapolis City Hall and Courthouse building, the Municipal Building Commission seeks donations of items connected with the building’s history. The commission, which manages the City Hall and Courthouse building, wants photos, documents, maps, drawings, furniture, architectural pieces and any other items related to the building from the past 125 years. Anyone who has items to donate should email a description and photo to [email protected]. These items may be on display in the Rotunda on Thursday, June 23.
Do you have historic items in your office?
The Municipal Building Commission also asks City employees who have original historic photos, drawings or other archival materials in their offices or workspaces to bring those items to the City Hall Rotunda between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, June 23, for staff to assess the items. The original items will be transferred to the City archives for proper preservation; the Document Solutions Center can prepare full-size reproductions for donors to display in their offices or workspaces.
Save the date
Celebrate the 125th anniversary of the City Hall and Courthouse building’s cornerstone laying, the ceremonial start of the building’s construction, at noon Monday, July 11, in the City Hall Rotunda.
