Celebrate the Minneapolis City Hall and Courthouse building’s 125th anniversary July 11
Celebrate the 125th anniversary of the City Hall and Courthouse building’s cornerstone laying, the ceremonial start of the building’s construction, Monday, July 11, in the City Hall Rotunda. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., the City-County Chorus will perform and there will be an ice-cream social. Local author and architecture critic Larry Millett will be the guest speaker at noon. Current and former commissioners of the Municipal Building Commission, which manages the Minneapolis City Hall and Courthouse building, will attend along with other elected officials.
The Hennepin History Museum and the Municipal Building Commission will have an exhibit of several period pieces from the late 19th century and other artifacts from the City Hall and Courthouse building throughout the first, second and third floors. Employees are invited to attend the celebration and browse through the exhibits. The exhibits will be in place through the first week of August.
