Tyrone Crawford, public works service worker
Transportation Maintenance and Repair, Public Works

Supervisor of Operations Support Lisa Ditty nominated Crawford for representing the City in a positive way and helping people in need while doing his job keeping Minneapolis streets clean and litter free.

“Once, Crawford was driving down Lake Street and saw a money bag in the middle of the street, so he turned around and ran out to the street and picked up the bag. He brought it back to the office and there was well over $10,000 in the bag that belonged to a dry cleaning business. Crawford gave the bag to Lisa Ditty who called the dry cleaner. The general manager came to the Hiawatha Maintenance Facility to pick up the bag. The general manager was very grateful and happy the bag was found.

“Many times Crawford has gone above and beyond his duties by helping residents in the neighborhood who are stuck in the snow or whose vehicle has broken down. Recently he witnessed an auto accident between an elderly female and a carful of men whom Crawford felt were bullying the elderly female; he came to her help and stayed to make her comfortable until the police showed up.”
