Mark your calendar for the next event in the Advancing Racial Equity Speaker Series.
5:30-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7
1800 W. Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington
The program’s speakers are:
- john a. powell, director of the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society, which brings together researchers and scholars, community partners, strategic communicators, and policymakers to identify and eliminate barriers to an inclusive, just and sustainable society and to create transformative change toward a more equitable world.
- Glenn Harris, president of the Center for Social Inclusion, a national nonprofit organization that catalyzes community, government and other institutions to dismantle structural racial inequity.
Food and drink will be available from 5:30 to 6 p.m. The program begins at 6 p.m. and includes a presentation from the City of Minneapolis team about current and future equity work. Several other cities will also present on this theme as well as counties and state agencies. It's a great opportunity to learn what other government entities are doing locally to advance racial equity.

The speaker series is part of a broader training offered by The Government Alliance on Race and Equity in partnership with the League of Minnesota Cities for a cohort of 17 governmental jurisdictions focused on advancing racial equity, including the City of Minneapolis.
