Reminder: Next READ book club event takes place Nov. 17
See a panel discuss the role of government in the history of Native American people at the next READ book club event.

Minneapolis Central Library, Pohlad Hall auditorium.
Minnesota Public Radio's Tom Weber will facilitate the discussion. Guest speakers include:
- Rep. Susan Allen, DFL-62B, a Lakota, Dakota and Anishinabe who works as a tax and tribal law attorney.
- Robert Lilligren, executive director of Native American Community Development Institute and former Minneapolis City Council member.
- Sheldon Wolfchild, a Dakota filmmaker and director.
November is national American Indian Heritage month, and the current READ Book Club selection is “What Does Justice Look Like? The Struggle for Liberation in Dakota Homeland” by Waziyatawin. The book explores how we can embark on a path of respectful coexistence with the original peoples of Minnesota who have suffered from genocide, ethnic cleansing, mass executions, death marches, broken treaties and land theft since their homelands were invaded more than 200 years ago.
