My Minneapolis survey results are in: More employees feel engaged at work, proud of their department’s service quality

Nearly 2,500 City employees took the My Minneapolis Employee Engagement Survey this year — that’s 64.1 percent of the workforce. The top findings:

Employee engagement rose 6.2 percent since the last survey.

The recent employee engagement survey saw one of its largest increases in employees’ positive views of their future with the City, which was the item targeted to work on Citywide after the 2014 survey.

The City conducts the employee engagement survey to learn how to improve our work environment to best meet your needs. City employees are the reason for the City’s success, and we want to ensure a workplace where you can succeed and feel valued.

Focus on communication

Employees identified communication as an opportunity to make the City an even better place to work. In the survey, 34.6 percent of employees answered favorably to the statements that there is honest two-way communication at the City. The City has targeted honest two-way communication as the area to work on Citywide this year.

Department-specific results

More than 250 leaders in City departments recently gained access to their department’s employee engagement survey results – an unprecedented level of access to the data. These leaders are now learning how to understand and interpret the results before sharing the data with their employees in the coming weeks.

We are committed to taking action

City leaders have committed to take action based on the survey results. Past employee engagement surveys have led to several departmental improvements. They’ve also led to improvements Citywide, including:
