Save 25 percent on fresh produce deliveries, meet the farmers Feb. 24
You can sign up to get fresh, locally grown produce delivered to you at the Public Service Center. Community supported agriculture (CSA) farms deliver locally grown produce to their members regularly during the growing season.
The local CSA farms in the City employee program are:
Both farms will deliver on Wednesdays at the Public Service Center, 250 S. Fourth St.
Mark your calendar to meet these farmers between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in the City Hall Rotunda. You’ll have a chance to talk to the farmers, ask questions and get information on their produce and pricing.
CSA members pay for the entire season of produce up front or in installments, which helps the farmers cover their costs. The cost varies, but the options range from $175-$610 for the summer season depending on the farm, the number of deliveries and the amount of produce signed up for.
The Wellness Committee is offering City employees who participate in the CSA program a subsidy this year. Employees will receive 25 percent off the cost of a summer share up to a maximum of $100 off a half share and $150 off a full share. There are a limited number of subsidies available, and they will be given to employees on a first-come first-serve basis. Sign up for a CSA share right away to take advantage of the discount before the subsidies run out.
