Chief Human Resources Officer Patience Ferguson nominated the Wellness Committee for creating, planning and implementing a successful department wellness grant program:
“The goal was to create an opportunity for departments to apply for a small amount of money to implement a wellness focused idea or program. This had never been done at the City before. The Wellness Committee designed the wellness grant process, developing criteria, designing an application and evaluating proposals.
“The committee received over 25 proposals and funded more than $20,000 in projects. The project design they created resulted in more than 20 different departments engaging in the process of creating a healthy workplace through innovative proposals that met their departments’ specific needs. The funded projects included a wide variety of grants that addressed healthy eating, active worksites, stress management and mother-friendly environments.
“Since this was a new project, it was important to have multiple team members helping create the best product possible. The Wellness Committee represents a wide variety of departments, and the members are volunteers so their extra work on this project is notable. Their hard work and dedication ensured that the process was successful."
