Join the Emergency Operations Center team to help during special events, disasters

Seize this professional development opportunity and help the community and first responders during major special events and disasters by joining the Emergency Operations Center team. Emergency Management seeks City employees to join the team to help run the City’s Emergency Operations Center when it’s activated. Volunteers will help coordinate response and recovery efforts after a disaster if their positions are called for in the Emergency Operations Center. They’ll also get a chance to help out with the City’s side of operations during Super Bowl 52.

To join the team, you’ll need to complete training including:

You’ll also need to attend monthly meetings and participate in continuing education.

Training and meetings take place during the regular work day, so employee participation will be subject to supervisor approval and department policy. Team members will receive their regular wage when they train and participate in an Emergency Operations Center activation.

The training courses will help you gain skills in problem-solving, managing and measuring work, communication, conflict management, and customer service.  You’ll experience fast-paced decision-making and use your knowledge of City departments to find the resources needed to help those affected in an emergency.
