Capital asset requests for 2018-2022 must be made by March 31
The Capital Asset Request System (CARS) allows departments to submit budget requests for capital items that cost more than $5,000 such as technology systems, vehicles, construction equipment and other large-dollar items necessary to provide services. The system uses a five-year planning process for these long-term capital assets used by City departments.
There is a specific window of time to make capital requests each year for the following five-year CARS cycle. This year, capital requests for the years 2018-2022 must be submitted between March 7 and March 31.
A new CARS form improves how City employees make capital requests. It also changes some processes that users will need to learn before making their capital requests for the 2018 budget and beyond. Find the form on the IT Service Desk portal:
- Click the IT Service Desk icon on your desktop or find a link to the portal on the home page of CityTalk.
- Select the “New CARS Project Request” link in the “Products & Services” section.
