Fresh produce discount still available
Time is running out to save 25 percent on fresh produce deliveries. Sign up to get fresh, locally grown produce delivered to you at the Public Service Center this summer. Farms will continue taking requests until their allotments fill up.
Community supported agriculture (CSA) farms deliver locally grown produce to their members regularly during the growing season. CSA members pay for the entire season of produce up front or in installments, which helps the farmers cover their costs. The cost varies, but this year’s options range from $175-$610 for the summer season depending on the farm, the number of deliveries and the amount of produce signed up for.
The local CSA farms in the City employee program this year are:
Both farms will deliver on Wednesdays throughout the season at the Public Service Center, 250 S. Fourth St. There is a possibility that Shared Ground Farmers’ Cooperative will be unable to deliver to the Public Service Center if more employees don’t sign up to participate in their CSA. Currently eight employees have signed up with Shared Ground Farmers’ Cooperative, and the CSA requires at least 10 employees.
The Wellness Committee offers participating City employees a subsidy this year. Employees will receive 25 percent off the cost of a summer share up to $100 off a half share and $150 off a full share.
