Learn more about a new employee resource group launching this fall
A new employee resource group for military service members and those who support them is launching this fall. With a mission to “provide support, camaraderie and resources for City employees with current or former military service and their families, friends and allies,” the yet-to-be-named group has scheduled a series of information sessions in June and July. Topics will include an introduction to employee resource groups, the vision for a military group in the City, identifying needs of potential members, and creating an executive committee to guide the group.
The scope of the military employee resource group is to connect past and current service members and their family members, friends and supporters with each other and with resources. Identifying challenges and opportunities faced by this employee group will result in better self-awareness and advance members’ ability to leverage skills and experience in the City work environment to achieve their full potential. By assisting members in career development, the group will also facilitate further development of the City of Minneapolis workforce.
The group will follow the “recruit, retain and recognize” structure to:
- Recruit military members for City service through outreach and educational activities.
- Retain military members by providing a support structure, education and career progression assistance.
- Recognize military members by planning annual activities that honor their military and City service.
Noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at City Hall, Room 319.
3:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, June 30, at the 3rd Precinct community room, 3000 Minnehaha Ave. S.
4-5 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at the Emergency Operations and Training Facility, 25 37th Ave. NE.
